In Memory of My Parents' 80th Wedding Anniversary

 



In the year 1937, Easter Sunday fell on March 28.
That was the day my parents wanted to get married.
And so, they eloped in Kansas.

They were married at the home of Reverend Bell.
He who preformed the wedding ceremony.
My father's step father, Chilton Lyle was a witness.
My parents decided to move to Nebraska for a few years
and they later returned to Missouri where they were born.

My mother was 16, almost 17 in 24 days
and my father was 24 and 5 months of age.
From this union came 19 children. 15 sons and 4 daughters.
God blessed my parents with 52 and 1/2 years of marriage.
They left a legacy that lives on.
They are missed but never forgotten by family and friends.

On February 8, 1889 ~ Perry James AMBERS was born in Shelby County, Missouri.
He was the husband of Florence (HENDRED) COBY AMBERS.

 On February 9, 1888 ~ Florence (HENDREDS) COBY AMBERS was born.
She was the daughter of George HENDRED and Ellen (LOVE/ WASHINGTON) HENDRED.


On Feb 10, 1920 ~  Lena Mae (WASHINGTON) HENDRED was born.  She was the wife of Floyd B. HENDRED.

 On February 12, 1915 ~   Haddie Lu (MANLEY) WILLIAMS was born in Knox County, Missouri.  She was the daughter of William MANLEY and Luettia (HENDRED) MANLEY.

 On February 12, 1922 ~ Ellen (LOVE / WASHINGTON) HENDRED  passed in La Belle, Missouri. She was the daughter of Louisa Jane (DADE) WASHINGTON. Ellen's father's surname was LOVE.

 On Feb 15, 1928 ~  James Edward COBY passed. He was the son of William Henry COBY and Florence (HENDREDS) COBY AMBERS.

On Feb 15, 1962 ~ Cora Mae (HENDREDS) ROBINSON passed. She was the wife of Mark Elmer ROBINSON. ~ Branch of   George and Ellen (LOVE) HENDRED.

Making Discoveries As The Journey Continues

Our ancestors left paper trails... etc. on their journey. Many of our ancestors have been forgotten. Only what is remembered and or recorded, lives on. Their descendants are the historians to pass down the family history. My DNA is 73% African American. As for the other 27%, I know very little info about. I thank God for my DNA make up. 

I don't know what got me hooked on wanting to know more about my ancestors.  I would look at old family photos. I would wonder...

This Article began my quest to search for my African American ancestors. It's been interesting along the journey. I made discoveries about this article. I began a search on the information that was written on my father's, side.

I know that we can't know every thing about our ancestors. We have to leave room for mystery. But, with whatever our ancestor left us, should be treasured.

I know that there were some sad things that we read about our relatives. It's with God's grace that we can receive comfort from what we come across. We all struggle and suffer things in life.

 There are good things that our ancestors left with our.  Only if we can go deeper to find out that they left. Where do we start? How do we go about searching?

This Article began my quest to search for my African American ancestors. It's been interesting along the journey. I made discoveries about this article. I began a search on the information that was written some years ago.

Oh, how little a searcher can know about their ancestors and come across a gold mine of information while searching for their family connections. It's possible. I have some long lost relatives who have made the family connections. I believe that there are more.

I hope that you will have some interest in where your ancestors came from.  It will take some time in the searching.  It's an adventure as things unfold.  I hope you make the quest to want to know more about your ancestors. The future generations will be thankful that someone took the time to record what they discovered about their ancestors.

     Charlotta lived in New York 8 months before her passing.
Both Robert and Charlotta were buried in Ashland Cemetery,
 in St. Joseph, Missouri
