In The Kitchen: What about a Café?

I stumbled across this advertisement some years ago. I didn’t know about this. I have seen the 1912 and 1913 city directories in St. Joseph, Missouri listing Robert Lankford’s occupation with a restaurant. I thought that this was odd. Robert was into stonemason and constriction work.

The Lankfard’s Cafe
The advertisement ran nine times from March 17, 1911 to May 26, 1911.
March, 17, 24, and 31 ~ April 7, 14, 21, and 28 ~ May 5 and 26th.

R.L. LANKFARD was Robert Louis LANKFARD, Prop.

I don’t know what happened to the café.
The ad was only in the Bystander in Iowa.
There’s no family story about the restaurant.

Thanks for reading.
God bless you.

Week 5: In the Kitchen ~ Genealogy Café via facebook

So many memories revolve around meals and cooking together. Do you have an ancestor who was a good cook (or maybe a notoriously bad cook!) What about a favorite recipe — where did it come from or who always cooked it? If that doesn’t spring any ideas, what about ancestors named Kitchen or Cook(e)? Feel free to leave your links and stories in the comments.
