The Journey Can Become New To You, If You Let It

Happy 2023!

As I’m journeying to discover more about my family connections, “things” are becoming new to me.
What are these new things”? It’s all in the way I’ve been seeing “things”. The clues that I have, have been there. I haven’t seen them like this before. It’s like, I’ve been blind-sided, so to speak.

My newest finds have become “an eye” opener. Only if I will learn to take the time to look, to think and to seek what I’m searching for. I don’t know how I’ve missed “things”. It’s been there and I didn’t see it. It’s those ah-ha moments.

We can do all that we think we can and still not see the family connections. We try and try and try again, still no luck. Where are the connections? Some will stop short in the search. While others will continue digging deeper to uncover the hidden treasures about their family history. It’s all in the attitude of the searcher.

I’ve seen a lot of “things” that don’t click. I have learned to step away from things and come back later. I move on to something else. I believe that there can be more out there. I keep searching till I find clues.

My pedigree
It’s time to look a little deeper. I’ve been reviewing information on some of my ancestors and relatives. It’s been a while in compiling things about them.

Now, I can picture some of their life story. I can wonder, and see the location where some of them lived. And I can walk in some of their foot steps, so to speak..

As I’m piecing together some of their stories, I can see them in a new way. By adding family members into their story, this brings their life alive. How they may have felt. What they had to deal with.

Meanwhile as. I’m compiling more information about my family connections, I’ve been having thoughts of other subjects to journal about. Those things that I’m journaling about are becoming NEW TO ME.

I took the photo many years go. It’s the view, we call ” down the street.” and “over the hill” was behind me as I was taking the photo. A lot of memories on this block and the blocks that surround it.. I can imagine, back in the days. Many generations lived here through the decades.

For those who are searching, keep searching for your ancestors.
It takes time to discover “things”.
In the beginning and in between time can be new to you, if you let it.
Happy Hunting!

Week 38
Amy Johnson Crow ~ Generations Café #52Ancestors 52 Weeks ~ facebook group

The theme for Week 38 is “New to You.” Sometimes when a person buys a used car, they say that it isn’t new, but it’s “new to me.” Do you have something like that? What about a “new” favorite resource to use? Or even a “new” ancestor!
