Precious Memories

As clear as a loving word or touch

of a hand so warm and clear

Are the memories of our loved ones that
we treasure and hold near.

A favorite song or picture often causes

us to recall, the many special times

that were the dearest ones of all.

And although time will heal the loss

we will never be far apart

Because God's gift of memory will always

be a treasure in our hearts.

May the special memories of all the deceased members

in the Lankford / Lankfard Family always live in our hearts.

Mr. Robert Louis / Lewis LANKFORD / LANKFARD

Robert Louis / Lewis was born on February 22, 1852 in Kentucky.

Robert have had a half sister named, Mamie MORTON.
I don't know if Mamie was married. Or if she carried the Lankford surname.
Mamie and Robert had the same mother.

The Lankfords worked for the Morton families.
The Morton surname could have been the Lankford Family's former slave owners.

Robert may had another relative named, Mrs. Sarah Anna (Lankford) JOHNSON.
Sarah was born in October of 1851 in Kentucky.
She lived and was married in Lewis County, Missouri.
She was the wife of  Mr. Wesley Z. JOHNSON.

The Mystery of Isaac Lankfard Jr.

The informant, Isaac Lankfard Jr was the name on Charlottie Lankfard's death record,
Isaac Jr. was recorded as Charlottie's son. Who was Isaac Lankford Jr.?

I believe that this was the error on the undertakers behalf.
I think, that this Isaac was Louis Lankford. Louis' father went by Louis Lankford in his early days.
Louis was the middle name of  his father Robert LOUIS Lankford. Some how the name  Isaac was mentioned. Charlotta's father was Isaac.   Charlottie's  address on her death record was 160 W. 142nd St. Apt 5 Louis "Add" Lankford lived at 160 West 142nd from about 1920 - 1925.
The LANKFORD Surname

On the Lankford brothers' World War 1 and 2 Draft Reg Cards
Most of the spelling of the LANKFORD name was spelled or signed as LANKFARD.

On LANKFORD Marriage Records for Frederick, Lula and Alice...
Their surname was spelled LANKFARD.

The descendants of Robert Lewis LANKFARD Sr., son of Leo and Mary

Tombstones at Ashland Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri

Robert Louis' and Charlotta's surname on grave marker spelled LANKFARD.
This is just a thought. It could have been the person who made the arrangement for the tombstone for the spelling of the surname. The brothers in New York, spelled their surname LANKFARD.
Leo's and Mary's surname on grave markers spelled LANKFARD

~ Which was it Lankford? Or Lankfard?  ~
We don't know the story behind the surname spelling.
But, I think that there was something to do with it.
Some of my thoughts.
It could have been that the family wanted to spell the surname the same on the tombstones.
I don't think it was a mistake in doing.

Here's how the surname was recorded in the Iowa State Bystander on May 19, 1911.
Three of The LANKFORD Brothers lived in New York
beginning around the late teens, 1920's - 1930s and until their death

Louis "Add" Lankfard, Frederick "Fred" Lankfard and Nymadula "Nym" Lankfard.
Brother, Charles Lankford came to New York don't know the year.
The brothers followed each other as they were on the R.R.
Note that Charles returned to Kansas City Missouri.

This is the only known photo of the brothers.
The years when this photo was taken is unknown.

The Lankfard Brothers
From left to right
Leo, Nymadula and Charles.
Behind Leo, Frederick, Behind Nymadula, James, Behind Charles, Louis "Add".

The year of photo is  a question.
This could be the photo when their father and or mother, passed 1919 and 1924.
My mother said that there was a picture taken of the brothers
about the time of their mother's passing.

The Other LANKFORD Siblings

in Denver, Colorado.
It wasn't until late 2014 when I made some connections with a descendant of Isabella. They were searching for Isabella's family connections also. They couldn't make the connections.
I'm so thankful that I came across some of Isabella's descendants.

 The Lankfard Sisters
The daughters of Robert and Charlotta (DADE) LANKFORD / LANKFARD
The place where this photo was taken is unknown.
It could have been in St. Joseph, Missouri. The year was before Sept 1938.
