Siblings: Charles Edward Lankfard and Isabella V. Lankford Nickerson

Mr. Charles Edward Lankfard
Mrs. Isabella V. (Lankford) Nickerson
Through the years of searching, I discovered more about Charles E. Lankfard and Isabella Nickerson.  They were two of the children of Robert and Charlotta (DADE) Lankford / Lankfard.   Both were born in St. Joseph, Missouri. Both married and had off springs.

I've discovered that Isabella passed on Sept 15, 1938 due to complication of giving birth to twins.  She was buried with one of  her babies in Denver, Colorado. Her husband, Ezekiel Nickerson passed in 1942. I don't know when but, the Nickerson younger children lived with their Aunt Ruth NICKERSON WHITE in  Texas. Ezekiel wasn't able to care for his children due to his illness.

I came across more info on Charles during late February of 2016. I stumble across info and discovered that he passed on Sept 13, 1937 in Manhattan, New York. He was married to a lady by the name of Lula. Charles' body was brought back to St. Joseph, MO for burial.

It's sad to discover that these siblings passed with a year and two days apart.  Charles, at age 47, was the first adult sibling to pass. Isabella, at age 40, was the first adult sister to pass. Their lives were cut too short.

I've come across some of Isabella's descendants on facebook. Charles had descendants by his  first wife, Meta (HUGHES) LANKFARD BEARD. Their daughter was Lelia Laura (LANKFORD) THOMPSON HILL. Lelia had a son named Charles LANKFORD. I hope come across some of Charles Edward LANKFARD's descendants.

I'm still searching for info on the deaths of the other siblings: Frederick A. LANKFARD, Nymadula "Nym" LANKFARD and  Anna Alice (LANKFORD) SMIITH.  Frederick and Nym most likely passed in NY. Anna Alice passed in St. Joseph, Missouri. The info on these siblings has been hard to track down.

Thanks for reading.

Reflections On Researching Info On The Lankford / Lankfard Family Connections

7 of 11 Children of Robert and Charlotta (Dade) Lankford / Lankfard

I can't recall when I began my search on my Lankford / Lankfard Family Connections. I know that in my early searching, I had a hard time finding things. My journey started out with what my parents told me. I worked from there.

My mother had some photos of her parents and relatives. I had some written info. It was enough to start searching. But, I didn't know where to start.

As the years came to past, I explored more. I would ask my parents questions. I went to the library. I searched city directions. I went page by page through birth and death records. Some of the material were't indexed.

There were times during my journey, I though that I couldn't find any more than what I had at that time. I couldn't go any further. So, I had to stop searching.

While I was on break, I began to receive information. I received some photos from my cousin, Gary Lankford.  He showed up at the door one day and handed my some photos. I was so thankful that Gary share them with me.

However, I still was at a stand still. I continue to ask relatives questions on the Lankford / Lankfard family connections. I did have some leads to follow. I kept searching.

It wasn't until the past five to eight years, I began to search more on my family history. In the last five years, I have come across more on my Lankford / Lankfard side than I thought I could. I'm amazed.

In  2014, I began to see some answers to some questions. I sought to find out things. I searched for all of Robert and Charlotta's children one by one.

Their children. James, Lula,  Frederick, Louis, Leo Anna, Charles,  Still born, Nym,   Isabella and discovered that there was another Lankford child. In the long run, I did make some progress. I'm happy that I stumbled across what I found.

I searched all what I could. I found some online newspapers. I re read some of what I have discovered over the years for clues. I found some obituaries. This gave me more leads.

I have posted many blogs on my Lankford / Lankfard Family Connections.  I have more to post. There are some updates that I need to add. I still wonder. What will I find out next?

I'm hoping that I will discover more on the Lankford / Lankfard Family Connections. It's interesting what I have so far. I believe that there is more. Someone has the pieces to our family mystery. May whosoever come forth. Hoping they can add to the family history and that others would add some too.

Thanks for reading.

Precious Memories

As clear as a loving word or touch

of a hand so warm and clear

Are the memories of our loved ones that

we treasure and hold near.

A favorite song or picture often causes

us to recall, the many special times

that were the dearest ones of all.

And although time will heal the loss

we will never be far apart

Because God's gift of memory will always

be a treasure in our hearts.

May the special memories of all the deceased members
of the Lankford / Lankfard Family always live in our hearts.

In Memory Of Ezekiel and Isabella Nickerson

Ezekiel W. Nickerson

Born: July 28, 1895 in Grimes County, Texas
Died: Dec of 1942 in Denver, Colorado

Isabella V. Lankford Nickerson

Born Sept 1899 in St. Joseph, Missouri
Died Sept 1938 in Denver, Colorado

Little is know about Ezekiel and Isabella. They were married about the year 1920. They were living in Denver, Colorado in 1930. They had about five children. Nathan, Vivian, Lankford, Betina and Robert E. Nickerson.

Ezekiel's parents were unknown. His mother was living when he was listed in World War I draft. Ezekiel was listed serving int he military in  Denver Colorado, He was listed as a Private Branch with Tank Co.

Isabella was the daughter of Robert Louis Lankford and Charlotta (Dade) Lankford. According to mortuary records in Colorado, Isabella had a baby in her casket. There's no record of what happened. Perhaps she gave birth to a child. Or Isabella and one of her children died due to an accident...

In late 2012, I came cross more info on the Nickersons. I will have to post another blog on what I have discovered. Thank God for clues.

I hope that this was of some help.
Thanks for reading.

Lelia Laura Lankford Thompson

Who was the little girl in this picture?
Lelia Laura Lankford
Lelia was born about 1915 in Missouri.
She was the daughter of Meta M. Hughes.
She was believed to have been the daughter of Charles Edward Lankford.
Below what was on the back of this photo.

Uncle Jim was James Lankford "Sallie" was "Jim's" wife Sarah Lankford.
According to the 1920 census Charles was listed as married.
There was no listing of his wife.
I haven't located when Charles and Meta were married.

Charles Edward LANKFORD
Charles was born on Jan 4, 1890
Charles worked as a Laborer, did odd Jobs, House Cleaning, and a Teamster.
When or where Charles died is unknown
Perhaps in New York.
Charles was the son of Robert Louis and Charlotta (Dade) Lankford.

I haven't located where Meta M. Hughes Lankford in the 1920 census.
Meta was born on Dec 2, 1896 in Hiawatha Kansas.
And passed away on April 24, 1931 in Kansas City Missouri.

On Meta's death record she was listed as divorced.
Her surname was Meta BEARD.
She was the daughter of John and Laura (Bools) Hughes.
I've located the marriage record of Meta Lankford to a Hanceford Beard.
This explains her death record.

I think I've located a Lelia in Leavenworth Kansas in 1925.
She was about 11 years old.
She was listed with church people in a Holy Epiphany 7th pott.
It appears to be a  school.
The head of the school was Hilda Russell, a  54 year old nun.

Lelia was the wife of Carl L. Thompson.
They were married on July 5 or July 6, 1930
in Kansas City, Jackson County Missouri.
Their were two records of marriage.
Lelia's mother Meta gave consent to the marriage.
Lelia was 16 years old.

Lelia was believe to have off springs.
There is little information what happened to Lelia.
Perhaps some one on Lelia's lineage can make a connection.
If you see any connection, feel free to make a comment.
Thank you.
