E.W And Isabella (Lankford) Nickerson Family Connections: Journey On The Search ~ Update

Here's some of my journey on the search for my Nickerson Family Connections. My search took a turn in 2010 or so. I'm thankful that  had a photo of Ezekiel and Isabella. I'm continuing to search for info on Ezekiel Watson Nickerson  and Isabella (Lankford) Nickerson.

E.W Nickerson
Isabella V. Nickerson

My first clues about E.W. and Isabella were photos of them. As they say, a picture can speak a thousand words. I had very little info on E.W. Isabella was my grandfather's sister.

I began my search on Isabella and located her on the 1900, 1910 and 1920 census.  I found them both on  the 1930 census Ezekiel and Isabella were listed with 5 children. All born in Colorado.

Nathanial NICKERSON born about 1922
Katherine was listed as Nathan. Error on census.

Vivian NICKERSON born about 1923
Lankford NICKERSON born about 1924
Betina NICKERSON born about 1927
Robert NICKERSON born about 1928

I believe that Ezekiel and Isabella had other children after 1930. As I was searching, I came across funeral info on E.W. and Isabella. That lead me to more searching.  I came across a Bettie NICKERSON in TX with her Aunt Ruth WHITE on the 1940 census. Ruth was listed on Ezekiel's funeral home info as next of Kin.

After further searching, I discovered that Ruth's maiden name. I thought it was  Nickerson. Indeed, she was Ezekiel's sister.

I was searching for Betina Nickerson  on the 1940 census record. But, I came   across Bettie NICKERSON. She was one of four NICKERSON children listed with the WHITE household in TX. All were born in Colorado. Bettie could have been Betina.

I obtained a copy of Isabella's death record. She passed on Sept 15, 1938. On the funeral home info it stated that the baby was in the casket with Isabella. One can assume that Isabella give birth and died afterward.

I had always thought that when I read, "child was in the casket" with Isabella, and that Isabella died after giving birth.  On December 5, 2013, I came across a death record of Freddie NICKARSON. He passed on April 9, 1941. Ruth White was the informant on the death record.

Bettie NICKERSON
Doris NICKERSON
Freddie NICKERSON
Leona NICKERSON

I checked to see who his parents were. E. W. NICKERSON from Denver, Colorado and Elizabeth LANGFORD from St. Joseph, Missouri.  I thought to myself and wondered. That's Ezekiel's and Isabella's son. He was born in Sept 15, 1938. So, it appears that Isabella had more than one baby before she passed on. Twins perhaps.

It appears that Ruth White cared for the four NICKERSON children after Ezekiel couldn't. Perhaps that was why the children were with Ruth and her husband in 1940. I can't locate where E.W. Nickerson was in 1940. That still leaves a question.

I was told that E.W. was ill and couldn't care for his children. Why was Isabella's name listed as Elizabeth who was from St. Joseph, MO. That's another mystery.

I came across  a photo  of Freddie NICKERSON as a child. The photo came from my Grandmother Lankford's home. The year of Freddie birth on the 1930 census was about 1935. But, on his birth record the year was 1938. I don't think that there were two Freddies.

Also, Leona the youngest child, she was listed for her year of birth as about 1939. She could have been born in 1938. I don't think  Isabella had triplets.  It could have been. Leona, Freddie were the same age on the 1940  census.

Isabella (LANKFORD) NICKERSON was the sister of Leo LANKFORD. The photo of the children were found in the home of Leo and Mary (ALLEN) LANKFORD./ LANKFARD.

What about the connections between the 1930 and 1940 census? It give clues to who some of the NICKERSONs where about. I discovered that Nathan NICKERSON passed on in 2007 in Oregon . According to his obituary, he had a sister name Doris. And brother named Robert NICKERSON. Nathan Nickerson was born in Colorado.

The photo of  7 of 11 of Isabella's sibling in 1892

I continue to search for info on Ezekiel And Isabella Nickerson. I haven't located a Leona NICKERSON nor of a Lydia NICKERSON. I'm not for sure if they were the same person. E.W. and Isabella had about 8 or 9 children.

I have contact some descendants of  the following children of E.W. and Isabella NICKERSON
Nathan Nickerson
Betina  "Bettie" (Nickerson) Young
Robert Nickerson
----------------
Vivian V. (Nickerson) Simpson James had children
Lankford J. Nickerson may have had a daughter.
Doris (Darlene) Laverne Nickerson had off spring.

Searching For My Family Connections: DNA Matches ~ Hoping to find more relatives

I'm still on my journey's quest to find out more on my family history. I've been coming across more clues last week. I've been looking into DNA matches.

I did my DNA testing a few years ago.  I was curious to find out what ethnicity region my ancestors came from. I was surprised by my results. I'm 24% European.

I've found about 10 searchers who matched my DNA. I've found a common relative on their family tree. I'm going through others who has some kind of match with me. I made a discovery on my LANKFORD / LANKFARD - NICKERSON Family Connections last week. I have more relatives living in California.

I don't understand the DNA make up. I don't know how to read the data. I have found a cousin who does. She said that we are related. We don't know which branch. I hope we find that family connections.

It's interesting to come across relatives in the way of DNA. It's a challenge, when we don't know the missing pieces to make the connections. I have some missing info on some of my ancestors.  I hope to find relatives to fill in the missing pieces. I hope I can fill in theirs. All it takes, is a name, a place and a date to make that family connections.

I've been looking for descendants of my Great Aunt Isabella V. (LANKFORD) NICKERSON. She married Ezekiel Watson NICKERSON in Denver Colorado in 1920 . They had about 9 or 10 children. I come across info on majority of the children. I'm still searching for info on siblings Robert Eugene NICKERSON and Lydia / Leona NICKERSON.

I've come across some of Nathan Welcome NICKERSON (1921 - 2007) descendants. Recently, I came across some info and descendants of Betina "Betty" (NICKERSON) SIMS YOUNG (1926 - 2012). I've located some descendants.

It's been a challenge finding what I have. I'm thankful that others are searching as well. I know I couldn't have seen the family connections without the help of others. Thank You, Jesus!

May we believe that we can find our long-lost relatives.
May those who what to know their family history, search for it.
May we remember that we all are the descendants of Adam and Eve.
Amen.

Siblings: Charles Edward Lankfard and Isabella V. Lankford Nickerson

Mr. Charles Edward Lankfard
Mrs. Isabella V. (Lankford) Nickerson
Through the years of searching, I discovered more about Charles E. Lankfard and Isabella Nickerson.  They were two of the children of Robert and Charlotta (DADE) Lankford / Lankfard.   Both were born in St. Joseph, Missouri. Both married and had off springs.

I've discovered that Isabella passed on Sept 15, 1938 due to complication of giving birth to twins.  She was buried with one of  her babies in Denver, Colorado. Her husband, Ezekiel Nickerson passed in 1942. I don't know when but, the Nickerson younger children lived with their Aunt Ruth NICKERSON WHITE in  Texas. Ezekiel wasn't able to care for his children due to his illness.

I came across more info on Charles during late February of 2016. I stumble across info and discovered that he passed on Sept 13, 1937 in Manhattan, New York. He was married to a lady by the name of Lula. Charles' body was brought back to St. Joseph, MO for burial.

It's sad to discover that these siblings passed with a year and two days apart.  Charles, at age 47, was the first adult sibling to pass. Isabella, at age 40, was the first adult sister to pass. Their lives were cut too short.

I've come across some of Isabella's descendants on facebook. Charles had descendants by his  first wife, Meta (HUGHES) LANKFARD BEARD. Their daughter was Lelia Laura (LANKFORD) THOMPSON HILL. Lelia had a son named Charles LANKFORD. I hope come across some of Charles Edward LANKFARD's descendants.

I'm still searching for info on the deaths of the other siblings: Frederick A. LANKFARD, Nymadula "Nym" LANKFARD and  Anna Alice (LANKFORD) SMIITH.  Frederick and Nym most likely passed in NY. Anna Alice passed in St. Joseph, Missouri. The info on these siblings has been hard to track down.

Thanks for reading.

Mystery Photo Of Four Children: Who could They Have Been?

Who are the children in this photo? It's a  mystery.

This photo is of  Isabella V. (LANKFORD) NICKERSON.
Daughter of Robert and Charlotta (DADE) LANKFORD / LANKFARD

I was looking at the children in the above photo. And I thought about Isabella (LANKFORD) NICKERSON's children. Are these children of Ezekiel's and Isabella's?

On the 1930 census Ezekiel and Isabella were listed with 5 children.
All born in Colorado.

Nathan NICKERSON born about 1922
Katherine was listed as Nathian. Error on census.

Vivian NICKERSON born about 1923
Lankford NICKERSON born about 1924
Betina NICKERSON born about 1927
Robert NICKERSON born about 1928

I believe that Ezekiel and Isabella had other children after 1930. As I was searching, I came across a Bettie NICKERSON in TX with her Aunt Ruth WHITE. Ruth was listed on Ezekiel's funeral home info as next of Kin.

After farther searching, I discovered that Ruth's maiden name was what I thought. It was Nickerson. She was Ezekiel's sister.

I was searching for Betina Nickerson  on a census record. I came across Bettie NICKERSON. She was one of four NICKERSON children listed with the WHITE household in TX. All were born in Colorado. Bettie could have been Betina.

Bettie NICKERSON
Doris NICKERSON
Freddie NICKERSON
Leona NICKERSON

Isabella Nickerson passed on Sept 15, 1938.

Ruth White was the informat on the death record.

Why was Isabella's name listed as Elizabeth who was from St. Joseph, MO?

As for the above photo, the children could have been the NICKERSONs. The young boy does look like Isabella. The girls look like sisters.

I came across  a photo  of Freddie NICKERSON as a child. The year of Freddie birth on the 1930 census was about 1935. But on his birth record the year was 1938.

Family Mysteries are fun. I'm not for sure who the children were in the photo. But the description matches the NICKERSONs. How knows? It could be someone else children. They all look like siblings. But who's? Could they have been Ruth (NICKERSON) WHITE's children?

What about the connections between the 1930 and 1940 census? It give clues to who some of the NICKERSONs where about. I discovered that Nathan NICKERSON passed on in 2007 in Oregon . According to his obituary, he had a sister name Doris. And brother named Robert NICKERSON. Nathan Nickerson was born in Colorado.

I don't know any additional info on the E.W. and Isabella NICKERSON's Children. I'm hoping that some of the NICKERSON descendants will come across this blog. I have come across photos of Nathan NICKERSON and one I believe was of Vivian NICKERSON.  Nathan looked like his father.

In Memory Of Ezekiel and Isabella Nickerson

Ezekiel W. Nickerson

Born: July 28, 1895 in Grimes County, Texas
Died: Dec of 1942 in Denver, Colorado

Isabella V. Lankford Nickerson

Born Sept 1899 in St. Joseph, Missouri
Died Sept 1938 in Denver, Colorado

Little is know about Ezekiel and Isabella. They were married about the year 1920. They were living in Denver, Colorado in 1930. They had about five children. Nathan, Vivian, Lankford, Betina and Robert E. Nickerson.

Ezekiel's parents were unknown. His mother was living when he was listed in World War I draft. Ezekiel was listed serving int he military in  Denver Colorado, He was listed as a Private Branch with Tank Co.

Isabella was the daughter of Robert Louis Lankford and Charlotta (Dade) Lankford. According to mortuary records in Colorado, Isabella had a baby in her casket. There's no record of what happened. Perhaps she gave birth to a child. Or Isabella and one of her children died due to an accident...

In late 2012, I came cross more info on the Nickersons. I will have to post another blog on what I have discovered. Thank God for clues.

I hope that this was of some help.
Thanks for reading.
